Annex Revival

Our darling clients’ family home, laden with character, received a backyard revamp just in time for a prospective listing photo shoot. Once on-site we identified what needed to be done. The foundation of the design had been impressive, but with years of modest care and fundamental changes in the surrounding environment, many of the plants were destitute. We were witnessing the signs of an overgrown garden.

No sweat… the homeowners took complete trust in us to reinforce their backyard oasis to its former glory. With our future horizons set on replacing the existing boxwood parterres with blight-proof yew hedging, we chose to temporarily reinforce the dead ones. Proper ‘hedging’ or hedge shaping pulled it all together. We added new ‘Incrediball’ hydrangeas in white to add a spot of brightness. The ‘Incrediball’ variety is an iteration of the traditional Annabelle that makes a truly hardy and steadfast choice. Unruly perennials were made manageable once again and lime green ‘Hakone’ grass made a stellar, modern statement. A new underplanting of Baltic Ivy established texture in a once-overlooked area and the addition of fresh black mulch added soft impact, weaving the whole design back together.
